SCOTTY H.
MIT '28
Scotty is studying Computer Science and Engineering at MIT on a 4.8 GPA, having arrived after five years as a Noncommissioned Officer in the U.S. Army. He interns at Amazon Web Services, has conducted robotics research at Yale and economics research alongside MIT faculty, and serves as President of the Student Veteran Association. He holds a cross-registration at Harvard and is a STEM Fellow with the Warrior-Scholar Project.
HANNA S.

Hanna is a PhD student in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, researching wearable devices for surface EMG recordings and brain-machine interfaces under Professors Preeya Khanna and Ali Javey. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Boston University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science, and has conducted ML research at Berkeley AI Research (BAIR). She is Co-President of Women in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Berkeley.

Grace is a 3rd-year PhD candidate in Bioengineering at the UC Berkeley–UCSF Joint Graduate Program, where her research combines computational design and 3D bioprinting to advance tissue engineering for regenerative medicine. She holds an M.S. in Computer Science and a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford, and is a 2024 D-Lab Data Science for Social Justice Fellow.
WOODS W.
MIT SB Candidate
Woods studies mechanical engineering and philosophy at MIT, where he works with the MIT Renewable Energy Clinic on research at the intersection of scientific innovation and energy policy. He is a MIT Free Speech Alliance Debate Fellow and Burchard Scholar, serves as an undergraduate teaching assistant, and plays on MIT's varsity soccer and basketball teams.
SIMONE W.
Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health '20
Simone holds a Master's in Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a PhD in Sustainable Food Systems from the University of Göttingen. She is currently a Consultant in Health, Nutrition and Population at The World Bank and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Bayreuth. She has conducted research at Harvard Law School, served as a Harvard Graduate School Leadership Incubator Fellow, and volunteered with AmeriCorps — completing over 1,950 hours of direct service and earning the President's Volunteer Service Award Gold. She has published in the Penn Bioethics Journal and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
KATHLEEN E.
MIT '23 · Harvard PhD Candidate
Kathleen graduated from MIT in 2023 with degrees in Computation and Cognition and a concentration in Public Policy. She is now a PhD candidate in Neuroscience at Harvard, supported by an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, studying the neural mechanisms of learning and memory. Her work on sleep-guided creativity was published in Scientific Reports and covered by Science and Scientific American. At MIT, she served as Executive Director of the 2022 Science and Technology Policy Bootcamp.
